THE rapid increase of COVID-19 cases in the country has become the toughest enemy of the government, national and local alike, hence the clamor for solidarity among the different institutions and organizations both from the public and private sectors.
As a response, AboitizPower subsidiary AP Renewables Inc. provided a total of PHP243,000 worth of 600 pieces of antibody-based test kits to its Tiwi and MakBan host local government units (LGUs) last September and October through their respective Municipal Health Offices (MHOs).
“We are thankful here Tiwi MHO as we can use these test kits for the screening of those locally-stranded individuals who entered the municipality,” said Tiwi MHO Dr. Sotera Copino.
“Our mission here is quite challenging and we are thankful for the support that we have been receiving from APRI most especially this time,” said Bay Municipal Administrative Officer Jaica Padrid.
The antibody rapid test kit is designed to detect the presence of antibodies (IgM and IgG) in a human’s body against the COVID-19 virus and can be detected using blood specimens. Thus, due to the limited capacity to facilitate the PCR test kit, the rapid test kits are still helping the LGUs facilitate the early detection of a potential new case of COVID-19.
“Our community needs us the most and we are trying all the best possible efforts to extend our support to them. We are very positive in APRI that, together, we will be able to stop COVID-19,” said APRI Vice President for Corporate Services Noemi G. Sebastian.|-BNN
