Batangas City’s total active covid cases hit 1,040 mark

WITH about 145,000 individuals who were vaccinated at the end of August 2021, more people are getting complacent and relaxed and this causes the cases statistics to dramatically increase and that the active covid cases in Batangas City hit 1,040 mark as of 5:00 p.m. of September 4, Saturday.

City Health Officer Dr. Rosanna Barrion reported on August 27 that 43,626 individuals in the city are fully vaccinated while another 100,687 individuals belonging to A1-A5 priority groups have the 1st dose of the anti-CoVid-19 vaccine.

But the daily cases of persons being infected with corona virus disease 2019 (CoVid-19) continue to file up in this provincial capital in the month of August, even when the city was under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) with hightened restrictions.

Based on the daily report of the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) of the City Health Office (CHO) for the month of August, there are 1,075 new cases recorded, 469 total recoveries and 42 deaths recorded.

The Daily Average New Cases was recorded at 34.67 while there are 299.87 Daily Average Active Cases.

It was also noticed that the single digit (7) new case on August 1 has tremendously doubled within the first week of the month and considerably ballooned on the past week until it ends with 122 cases on August 31.

Behind this backdrop, there were 42 deaths recorded or with an average of more than one individual (1.35) who perished due to covid during the month.|-BNN
