Batangas Could Soon Be a Wind Power Hotspot!

Must read

BATANGAS CITY — Big moves are happening in renewable energy! AbaCore Capital Holdings Inc., through its subsidiary Simlong Energy Development Corp., is teaming up with government-owned Philippine National Oil Co. (PNOC) to explore the potential for a wind energy hub in Batangas.

The partnership, updated on Sept. 15, 2025, will see PNOC leading studies on wind resources, mapping, and techno-economic analysis to figure out how viable the area is for renewable energy development. The study period got a boost too — now 18 months instead of 15 — to make sure no data is left behind.

“The goal is to see if Batangas can host a full-blown energy hub. A positive outcome would help AbaCore grow and diversify its investments,” the company said in a filing to the Philippine Stock Exchange.

The wind project would sit on a 142-hectare property in Simlong, Batangas City, part of AbaCore’s bigger ABA Energy Hub strategy to develop energy assets that meet national demand while supporting sustainability.

Batangas is a prime spot — not just for beaches and port hubs, but also as a key center for trade, logistics, and power generation. With this project, it could soon become a powerhouse in renewable energy too.

Stay tuned — the winds of change are literally blowing in Batangas!|
