Batangas City — The future of Philippine engineering education takes another leap forward as Batangas State University, The National Engineering University (BatStateU The NEU), officially inaugurated its 12th campus on November 11 — the BatStateU LIMA, located at the bustling Biz Hub of LIMA Estate, the first Central Business District in the South.

This milestone event marks not just another expansion for BatStateU but a strategic collaboration with Aboitiz InfraCapital Economic Estates, hailed as the Best Industrial Developer in the Philippines at the 13th PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards 2025. The partnership integrates higher education directly within one of the country’s leading industrial and innovation hubs.

According to Mr. Rafael Fernandez de Mesa, President and CEO of Aboitiz Land and Head of Aboitiz InfraCapital Economic Estates, the new campus is “strategically positioned to respond to the rapidly evolving demands of global technology and manufacturing industries.”

BatStateU-LIMA will offer a future-focused, industry-based learning (IBL) curriculum through its Center for Artificial Intelligence and Smart Technologies. Among its pioneering undergraduate programs are Aerospace, Automotive, Biomedical, Food, Instrumentation and Control, Mechatronics, and Transportation Systems Engineering, alongside technology programs in Computer, Electrical, and Electronics Engineering.

At the graduate level, BatStateU-LIMA will also house advanced programs including doctoral studies in Electronics Engineering and Engineering Management, as well as Master of Science degrees in Advanced Manufacturing, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Electronics Engineering, Engineering Management, and Transportation Systems Engineering.

University President Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo emphasized BatStateU’s commitment to producing globally competitive engineers and technologists equipped to thrive in international industries. “In our curriculum, it’s your choice whether Mandarin or Nihonggo in the meantime,” Dr. Ronquillo said, noting the inclusion of foreign language studies to prepare students for global engagement.

The 3,000-square-meter interim facility will begin full operations by August 2026, with admissions opening this year. For the inaugural Academic Year 2026–2027, BatStateU-LIMA will offer 10 programs—seven in engineering and three in technology—catering to about 800 students. By 2030, the campus is expected to move to its permanent 10-hectare site within LIMA Estate, envisioned as a world-class center for engineering innovation.

The launch of BatStateU-LIMA stands as a landmark for Batangas and the entire CALABARZON region, reinforcing the university’s leadership in engineering education and supporting the Philippines’ vision of becoming a technological and industrial powerhouse in Southeast Asia.|
