Mary Mediatrix Medical Center (Mediatrix) in Lipa City just dropped a major health flex: a ₱500 million expansion that’s set to upgrade patient care, create more jobs, and make the hospital the biggest private medical facility in Southern Luzon.
This isn’t just a fancy facelift. The new building and equipment are answering a real need. CALABARZON—where Batangas belongs—is second only to Metro Manila in heart attack cases. In response, Mediatrix added a second catheterization lab, making it the only hospital in the region with two. That means faster, better cardiac care when every second counts.
But the upgrades don’t stop there. The expansion includes:
- 40 modern patient rooms
- A luxurious Wellness Center for VIPs
- A new Urgent Care Facility
- An 8-bed Neuro ICU as part of a growing Neuroscience Center
- And a design that’s future-proof: ready to serve as an isolation facility if needed
They’re also growing their team—120 new nurses are being hired, and plans are underway to affiliate with 20–30 new doctors per year, especially specialists in fields like cardiology, oncology, pediatrics, and surgery. There’s even talk of adopting robotic surgery in the near future.
This is all part of a bigger vision. Mediatrix is applying for a 210-bed capacity, with a target of 300 beds by 2030. It’s not just about size—it’s about becoming the referral center for advanced care in the region.
Another highlight is Code HB: Heart of Batangas, a first-of-its-kind program in the country. It trains partner hospitals across Southern Luzon to quickly stabilize and transfer heart attack patients to Mediatrix for specialized treatment. The goal? Save lives with faster, smarter coordination.
“We’re not just building beds—we’re building a system that puts patients first,” said hospital execs. And that’s not just PR-speak. The expansion is also bringing jobs and boosting the local economy.
Since 1958, Mediatrix has been a healthcare staple in Batangas. Now, it’s stepping up as a national leader in patient-centered care—proof that world-class health services don’t have to be far from home.| – BNN Integrated News / TheMetroTimes.ph
