ZAMBOANGA CITY — Marking a major stride in its nationwide digital modernization, the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has inaugurated its newly renovated Zamboanga Branch and launched a state-of-the-art Digital Business Center designed to enhance services for nearly 48,000 government workers and pensioners across the peninsula.
GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso led the opening of the upgraded facility, saying the revitalized office is a response to the growing number of transactions from 187 active remitting agencies in the region. The branch, which has served Zamboanga since 1968, now features improved customer areas and streamlined operations to handle increasing foot traffic.
Central to the upgrade is the new Digital Business Center, which acts as a transition point for members shifting toward the agency’s 99.6% digitalized services. While the GSIS Touch mobile app remains the flagship platform for online claims and loan processing, the center offers guided, on-site support for senior members and those unfamiliar with digital tools.
“We realized that to serve you better, we had to change how we operate,” Veloso said. “The Digital Business Center complements GSIS Touch and ensures that no one gets left behind in our digital transformation.”
As part of his Zamboanga visit, Veloso also inspected the Basilan Extension Office, which for two decades has provided claims processing for more than 7,000 members and pensioners in the island province—ensuring services remain within reach even outside major cities.
Veloso later held a mini-stakeholders’ dialogue with representatives from SSS, Pag-IBIG Fund, CSC, DBP, PhilHealth, DSWD, UnionBank, and the Zamboanga City Government to gather feedback and strengthen inter-agency coordination.
Zamboanga City Mayor Khymer Adan T. Olaso welcomed GSIS’s continued expansion, noting its broader service coverage now includes Sulu under Region 9.
Veloso said the upgrades reflect GSIS’s commitment to “restore dignity and efficiency” in public service. “Every claim processed helps a family. Every loan granted builds a home or sends a child to school. Here in Zamboanga, we’re proving that government service can be modern, efficient, and compassionate.”|
