First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) was hailed as a key contributor to the continued progress of Sto. Tomas City by Mayor Arth Jhun “AJAM” Marasigan during his third State of the City Address (SOCA) held on August 15, 2025, at SM City Sto. Tomas.
In his address, Mayor Marasigan highlighted FPIP’s vital role in driving economic development and supporting the city’s 12-point agenda, which includes attracting quality investments, creating job opportunities, and enhancing traffic management.
A major highlight in 2024 was the city’s Php7.23 billion in total investments—of which Php6.5 billion was contributed by Dyson Philippines, one of FPIP’s newest and most prominent locators. Dyson’s entry not only strengthens FPIP’s position as a hub for high-value manufacturing but also adds to its impressive portfolio of over 150 global industry leaders.

The city’s economic momentum is also evident in its growing tax revenues, which increased by 8.7% year-on-year, reaching Php336 million. Among the city’s top taxpayers are FPIP locators Amcor Flexibles Philippines and Shoketsu SMC Corporation.
Beyond economic impact, FPIP continues to provide meaningful employment for Sto. Tomas residents. In 2024, it accounted for 60% of local job placements, offering opportunities to nearly 12,500 job seekers. The park hosts companies across diverse sectors such as electronics, packaging, automotive, aerospace, food and beverage, and pharmaceuticals—strengthening livelihoods and empowering families across the city.
In response to increasing traffic concerns, FPIP has also partnered with the local government to improve road conditions. By commissioning a technical consultant, FPIP helped assess traffic flow along the busy Calamba–SM Sto. Tomas corridor. The resulting data now guides traffic planning and congestion mitigation strategies.
To support these efforts further, FPIP also organized a four-day capacity-building program for 75 local traffic enforcers. The training enhanced their knowledge in traffic management, enforcement protocols, and road safety, ensuring more effective on-ground implementation.

Looking ahead, FPIP reaffirms its commitment to working closely with the City of Sto. Tomas in driving sustainable growth and building a resilient community for future generations.
Founded in 1996, FPIP is one of the country’s premier industrial parks. A joint venture between Lopez-led First Philippine Holdings (FPH) and Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation, its 600-hectare PEZA-registered ecozone in Batangas is home to over 150 global manufacturers and nearly 80,000 employees.| – TheMetroTimes.ph
