Mekeni Food Corporation Reassures Filipino Families: Clean, Safe, and World-Class Products You Can Trust

Must read

Mekeni Food Corporation, one of the most recognized names in Filipino processed meats and specialty food products, continues to strengthen its promise of delivering clean, safe, and high-quality food to Filipino households. From its home in Porac, Pampanga, the company upholds strict global standards to ensure that every pack of hotdog, tocino, longganisa, or corned beef reaching Filipino tables is handled with care and produced with integrity.

This 2025, Mekeni achieved another milestone after sustaining its FSSC 22000 Version 6.0, Good Hygiene Practices (GHP), and HACCP certifications—following a surprise audit conducted by SGS, a leading global certification body. These certifications are among the most rigorous in the world, proving that Mekeni consistently meets international benchmarks in food safety, hygiene management, and quality.

Mekeni’s dedication to excellence is not new. As early as 2006, it became the first Asian and second worldwide meat-processing plant to obtain the ISO 22000 certification—an achievement that placed the Filipino brand on the global map. Through the years, the company has continued to earn international awards for quality and manufacturing excellence.

More importantly, Mekeni has shown that it prioritizes consumer safety above all else. During the African Swine Fever (ASF) issue that affected the country, Mekeni voluntarily recalled select pork-based products, conducted independent testing, and implemented corrective actions—even before authorities required it. Subsequent tests, including those from an independent laboratory, confirmed that Mekeni’s released products were free from ASF virus traces, a finding later affirmed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

To this day, Mekeni continues to invest in modern facilities, strict monitoring systems, and continuous staff training to ensure that every step—from sourcing raw materials to packaging finished goods—meets the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. Their food safety and quality assurance teams work daily to protect consumer health and maintain trust.

With its products now being exported to over 15 countries such as the United States, Canada, Japan, and several markets in the Middle East, Mekeni stands as proof that Filipino-made products can compete globally not just in taste, but in world-class food safety.|
