Opong slightly intensifies while moving over PH Sea

AT 10:00 o’clock Thursday night, the center of Severe Tropical Storm OPONG was estimated based on all available data at 595 km East of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte or 660 km East of Maasin City, Southern Leyte (10.4°N, 130.9°E).

It has a maximum sustained winds of 100 km/h near the center, and gustiness of up to 125 km/h, and central pressure of 985 hPa

STS Opong moves west northwestward at 15 km/h. Strong to storm-force winds extend outwards up to 450 km from the center

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 is being observed over Northern Samar and the northern portion of Eastern Samar (San Policarpo, Oras, Jipapad, Arteche)

Gale-force winds are expected in the next 24 hours. Strong winds  with a speed of 62 to 88 km/h (Beaufort 8 to 9) can be expected.

In Luzon, #Quezon including Polillo Islands, #Rizal, #Laguna, the southeastern portion of #Batangas (Cuenca, Taysan, Lobo, Talisay, Padre Garcia, Agoncillo, San Pascual, Santo Tomas, Bauan, San Jose, San Luis, Lipa City, Ibaan, City of Tanauan, Mabini, Mataasnakahoy, Alitagtag, Balete, Tingloy, San Juan, San Nicolas, Batangas City, Rosario, Santa Teresita, Taal, Malvar, Laurel), Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate including Ticao Isl. and Burias Isl.

In the Visayas, under TCWS No. 1 are the provinces of #Samar, the rest of #EasternSamar, #Biliran, and the northern portion of #Leyte (Barugo, San Miguel, Babatngon, Tacloban City, Calubian, Leyte, Capoocan, Carigara, Palo).| – BNN Integrated News
