BATANGAS City – TO help improve the vaccination program of the government, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Batangas Chapter steps in with its wide range of volunteers and set up a Resbakuna Center at Xentro Mall here in addition to several vaccination centers that the PRC has put up across the country.

The move of the PRC is in partnership with the local government unit (LGU) of Batangas, Xentro Mall, and Batangas Healthcare Specialist Medical Center and aims to inoculate at least 200 people a day. PRC Batangas Chapter has mobilized 14 staff and 17 volunteers to administer the vaccination program targeting the A1, A2, and A3 categories. PRC inoculates its beneficiaries with the Janssen vaccine.

“Ang goal natin ay mabakunahan ang mas maraming Pilipino, lalo na sa panahon ng Enhanced Community Quarantine. I urge everyone to get vaccinated para maiwasan ang mga severe cases. Katulong ng ating mga PRC Chapters nationwide at local government, mas ilalapit natin sa mga nangangailangan ang bakuna centers upang lahat ay maprotektahan kontra COVID-19,” PRC Chairman and CEO Sen. Richard Gordon said.

PRC, an auxiliary to the government, ramps up its vaccination program by establishing 14 bakuna centers in Metro Manila and nearby provinces. PRC is now close to vaccinating over 100,000 people nationwide through its bakuna centers and busses.

“We have four (4) main sources of vaccine — from the LGU and from the National Headquarters of the PRC which are being administered to those priority groups as identified by the Department of Health; from the PRC itself which are allocated to our staff, volunteers and members of the Board and their families; and from private companies which are administered to their identified employees,” PRC Batangas administrator Ronald Generoso said.

Meanwhile, Generoso clarified that to be vaccinated, the benericiary must be pre-registered with the city government’s vaccination registration system, and no walk-in clients are allowed to ensure safety and to physical distancing.| – BNN
