Thousands of GSIS members apply for ₱60,000 Digital Ginhawa Loan on launch day

PASAY CITY — The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) received a surge of applications for its newly launched Digital Ginhawa Loan, with over 21,400 members applying on the first day alone. Applications filed through the GSIS Touch mobile app totaled ₱1.258 billion as of October 10.

Of these, 9,461 loans worth ₱565.7 million have already been approved. GSIS expects more applications and approvals to come in over the weekend.

The Digital Ginhawa Loan offers up to ₱60,000 for eligible GSIS members to purchase laptops, tablets, or smartphones—essential tools for productivity and remote work. The loan features a 6% annual interest rate, payable over 36 months, and is processed entirely online through the GSIS Touch app.

“This digital loan empowers our members to upgrade their work tools and stay connected, all in just a few taps,” said GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso.

To qualify, applicants must be active GSIS members with permanent appointments, no pending administrative or criminal cases, not on leave without pay, and must have no defaulted GSIS loans. Applications are certified by the Agency Authorized Officer (AAO) and, once approved, funds are credited directly to the member’s GSIS eCard or ATM account.

The loan also comes with Loan Redemption Insurance (LRI), which pays off the remaining balance if the borrower passes away while the loan is in good standing.

“This is part of our push for digital transformation—making GSIS services faster, easier, and more accessible for all government workers,” Veloso added.

The Digital Ginhawa Loan is available exclusively through the GSIS Touch app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.|
