In preparation for the upcoming Holy Week, the Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco), together with the local government of Antipolo City, have intensified its wire-clearing operations near Antipolo Cathedral to ensure the safety of the devotees and motorists heading to and from the church.
The wire clearing operations on March 27 along P. Oliveros Street were led by Antipolo City Mayor Jun Ynares and Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga.
“Meralco will continue to conduct more operations like this in close coordination with local
government units to ensure public safety, especially with the expected surge of the devotees this coming Holy Week,” Zaldarriaga said.
Since the start of the year, the power distributor has already removed more than 25,000 kilograms of unauthorized wire attachments as part of its continuing efforts to maintain the integrity of its facilities and promote public safety.
Meralco continuously works with local government units for the conduct of Anti-Urban Blight Operations across its franchise area. This also ensures delivery of safe, stable, and reliable electricity service for its 8.2 million customers.|
