MANILA — Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Ted Herbosa has decided to step down from his post, saying he needs to focus on his health and recovery.
In his resignation letter, Herbosa said he realized it was time to take care of himself and undergo rehabilitation, which he expects will last about three to four months.
“I realized the need to look after myself,” he wrote, adding that he understands it is up to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to decide whether to accept his resignation.
The Health secretary also thanked the people he worked with during his time in office and apologized to anyone he may have disappointed.
“If I have failed anyone during my stint, I apologize. Tao lang po. All the best,” Herbosa said.
As the country’s top health official, Herbosa led the Department of Health in implementing public health programs and improving healthcare services for Filipinos.
As of posting time, Malacañang has not announced whether the President has accepted his resignation.
If accepted, the government is expected to designate an official to lead the department while Herbosa undergoes rehabilitation.|
