Mapúa MCL, Arizona State University expands academic tie-up to all undergraduate programs

CABUYAO CITY, Philippines — Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna (Mapúa MCL) has officially expanded its collaboration with United States-based Arizona State University (ASU) into a comprehensive, institution-wide academic partnership, moving beyond its initial focus on business and health sciences to cover all undergraduate programs.

The expanded alliance aims to provide students in CALABARZON with access to global education standards, including ASU-enhanced coursework and international learning opportunities through the ASU-Cintana Alliance. Mapúa Education Group is currently the only education group in the Philippines holding a system-wide collaboration with ASU, an institution recognized for its innovation and global research impact in the US.

Under the new framework, Mapúa MCL will integrate AI-enabled pedagogy and ASU-aligned academic content across multiple disciplines. Students will have access to structured global pathway opportunities such as dual degree programs, accelerated master’s options, and global certificates that aim to increase employability in both local and international markets.

The partnership also facilitates multidisciplinary faculty exchanges and joint research initiatives between the two institutions to elevate teaching quality and accelerate innovation.

This strategically aligns with the labor demands of CALABARZON, recognized as the country’s primary industrial hub and a top region of origin for Overseas Filipino Workers. Through this comprehensive collaboration, the institution aims to provide globally benchmarked education and innovative learning environments directly within the local setup.

Mapúa and ASU remain committed to our role in developing and equipping globally competitive, future-ready graduates who would thrive in this fast-evolving world. We’d like to think of it as raising a future generation of leaders grounded in excellence and global readiness. Mapúa MCL, in collaboration with ASU, is in a very strategic location since CALABARZON is a premier industrial hub of the country and most of the global workers come from this region.

We are in an ideal position to produce globally competitive and career-ready professionals who would have the heart for nation-building and in making meaningful contributions to society,” Dr. Dodjie Maestrecampo, President of Mapúa University, stated.

Further expanding access to these global pathways, Cintana Education will sponsor a 100-percent full scholarship for one student from each Mapúa campus. Justin Fabia, Country Director for the Philippines at Cintana Education, shared this development during the event, emphasizing the alliance’s commitment to supporting exceptional local talent.

Mapúa MCL is a member of Mapúa Education Group and iPeople, Inc. – the education joint venture between majority owner House of Investments (the listed holding company of the Yuchengco Group of Companies) and Ayala Corporation. The two conglomerates share an empowering common goal to make world-class education accessible to as many Filipino students as possible.| Sheenalei Briana Rayos
