Qatar confirmed that its Armed Forces intercepted the majority of missiles and drones launched in a large-scale Iranian attack, preventing fatalities but heightening concerns over regional stability and economic risk exposure in the Gulf.
According to the Qatar News Agency, 63 of 65 ballistic missiles and 11 of 12 drones were successfully shot down. Two missiles reportedly reached Al Udeid Air Base, a key strategic installation, while one drone targeted an early warning radar system. Eight individuals sustained injuries ranging from critical to moderate, and property damage was reported.
Beyond the immediate security implications, the incident underscores the vulnerability of critical infrastructure in one of the world’s leading energy exporters. On the diplomatic front, Qatar condemned the attack as a violation of sovereignty and reaffirmed its right to respond under international law. It also expressed solidarity with the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan.
