Lacson blames Trump’s ‘narcissistic arrogance’ and ‘brinkmanship’ amid global oil crisis

MANILA — Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson issued a stinging rebuke of U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday, March 24, blaming the American leader’s “narcissistic arrogance” for a geopolitical crisis that has pushed the Philippines and the rest of the world to the brink.

In a series of statements posted on X (formerly Twitter), the veteran lawmaker argued that the Philippine economy is currently reeling from the fallout of failed U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East, which has severely disrupted global oil supplies.

Lacson contended that the current global instability is a direct result of the U.S. administration’s aggressive tactics, which he claims have failed to achieve their intended goals.

The Philippines is in crisis along with the rest of the world because President Trump’s brinkmanship did not work. In fact, it has boomeranged. He should be held to account by the whole world, including his own country, the USA,” Lacson said.

The Senator’s remarks come as domestic fuel prices in the Philippines hit record highs this week, driven by supply anxieties as the U.S.-Israel conflict with Iran continues to escalate.

Lacson also noted that the theater of conflict is widening, drawing in traditional Western allies who are now consolidating their positions in response to Washington’s maneuvers. He specifically pointed to a shift in the Nordic and North Atlantic alliances.

With the Nordic Alliance composed of Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Iceland closing ranks with Canada and eventually extending to NATO and other countries over the US/Israel war against Iran, things are not looking good for the US and the world – all because of the narcissistic arrogance of one ‘leader of the free world,'” he said in an earlier post.

The Senator’s critique highlights growing domestic concern over the Philippines’ vulnerability to external shocks, as the “brinkmanship” in the Middle East continues to dictate the economic reality for millions of Filipinos.|
