MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Agriculture – Philippine Coconut Authority (DA-PCA), together with local government units, industry partners, and farmers across the country, rolled out a massive simultaneous planting initiative targeting millions of seedlings to commemorate the 40th National Coconut Week.

In a news release on Monday, the DA-PCA said the nationwide undertaking forms part of ongoing government efforts to fortify the country’s coconut resource base, raise farm yields, and expand livelihood opportunities for Filipino coconut farmers. A central priority of the program is the aggressive replacement of senile and unproductive palms that have reached the end of their natural lifecycle with high-quality planting materials.

Every new seedling represents more than a future coconut tree. It represents the possibility of future harvests, additional farm income, improved productivity, and renewed opportunities for coconut-growing communities,” the DA-PCA said.

The synchronized planting initiative supports the broader framework of the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP), which provides targeted interventions aimed at improving farm productivity, increasing producer earnings, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the local coconut industry.

The PCA emphasized that the convergence among implementing bodies under the CFIDP, municipal governments, and agricultural groups serves to ensure that direct support and resources reach grassroots farming communities effectively following the nationwide observance of National Coconut Week from August 24 to 30.|
