TAGUIG CITY, Philippines — The Philippine Army has deployed disaster response units across Luzon to execute search, rescue, and flood-mitigation operations after torrential monsoon rains inundated multiple provinces over the weekend.
A total of 269 military personnel and 15 trucks were dispatched to assist hard-hit communities across Bataan, Tarlac, Zambales, Pampanga, and Pangasinan. Ground teams are collaborating with local government units to evacuate stranded residents, reinforce low-lying areas through sandbagging operations, and support relief distributions at evacuation centers.
In Metro Manila, personnel from the 51st Engineer Brigade are closely monitoring water levels along the Marikina River to prepare for potential emergency evacuations should water levels rise further.
To sustain operations across the island, the military has placed a reserve contingent of 2,406 soldiers, reservists, and Cafgu Active Auxiliary members on high alert, alongside 277 military trucks and 15 watercraft ready for rapid deployment.
The Philippine Army stated that its Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response teams remain in close coordination with national disaster agencies and local authorities to deliver timely assistance to flood-affected communities.|
