MANILA, Philippines — Emerging Power Inc. (EPI), the renewable energy arm of natural resources leader Nickel Asia Corporation (NAC), has clinched a major regional accolade for its flagship solar venture at the prestigious Asset Asian Awards (“Triple A Awards”) Sustainable Infrastructure Finance Awards 2026.

The company’s 145 MWp facility in Subic was named Renewable Energy Deal of the Year – Solar (Highly Commended) for the Philippines. The award recognizes the landmark ₱5.175 billion project finance senior term loan facility secured by Northern Palawan Power Generation Corporation to support the development and construction of the Cawag Solar Power Project in Subic Freeport, Zambales.

Once operational, the Cawag plant is expected to power over 90,000 households and establishments while slashing greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 132,000 tons annually.

Zamora, President and CEO of NAC and EPI. “It strongly supports the country’s transition toward a future powered by green energy.”

Strategic Financing Partnerships

EPI served as the sponsor for the award-winning transaction, backed by major domestic financial and legal institutions:
• Sole Arranger: RCBC Capital Corporation
• Sole Lender: Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC)

The Asset Triple A Awards, presented by Hong Kong-based financial publication The Asset, use a rigorous, independent methodology to recognize outstanding achievements in banking, finance, and capital markets across Asia.

Moving forward, EPI remains committed to scaling its green energy portfolio to bolster national energy security, support NAC’s broader sustainability roadmap, and advance United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy). (NAC)
