Nickel Asia trailblazes at Nat’l Mining Confab

BONIFACIO GLOBAL CITY, Taguig – LISTED natural resource development firm Nickel Asia Corporation (NAC) hauled 11 awards during the 2024 Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Awards (PMIEA) held at the CAP Convention Center, Baguio City, on Nov. 22, 2024.

“Tonight is a celebration of our shared dedication to responsible and forward-thinking mining practices,” said NAC President and CEO Martin Antonio G. Zamora in his acceptance speech. “The theme, ‘Endurance and Innovation for Sustainability,’ couldn’t be more relevant as our industry has become indispensable for the push towards our green future.”

NAC subsidiaries Taganito Mining Corporation (TMC), Hinatuan Mining Corporation (HMC), and Cagdianao Mining Corporation (CMC) won the coveted Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Award – the highest accolade awarded by the President of the Republic of the Philippines to mining companies based on excellence in safety and health, environmental protection, social development, and corporate social responsibility.

CMC, based in Dinagat Islands, Surigao, won the Best Mining Forest (Metallic Category) – a testament to its commitment to establishing land use values equal to or greater than those prior to mining activities. TMC, based in Claver, Surigao, won 2nd Runner-up in the same category.

Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation (RTNMC) based in Bataraza, Palawan, won the Platinum Achievement Award in the Surface Mining Operation Category.

Dinapigue Mining Corporation (DMC), based in Dinapigue, Isabela, won the Titanium Achievement Award in the Surface Mining Category for two consecutive years and won the Most Improved Safety Performance recognition.

For the Best Personalities Category, April Joy Delola of CMC won the Best Mine/Plant Supervisor, along with Jennifer Q. Inting of HMC who won Best Miner/Operator, and Grace D. Milan of RTN who was recognized as Best Safety Inspector in the Surface Category.

“We are given this opportunity to come together here, not only to recognize the exceptional achievements of the awardees before us, but also to renew the shared commitment of the mineral resources development industry in prioritizing responsibility, sustainability, and innovation for good,” said DENR Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga during her speech.|
