THE CALABARZON provinces emerged as significant drivers of the national economy, with three provinces as top contributors to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) among 82 provinces and excelling in the industry and services sectors.

This achievement was highlighted during the simultaneous nationwide launch of the 2023 Provincial Product Accounts (PPA), which showcased sustained economic growth across all CALABARZON provinces.

Laguna ranked first as the largest contributor to the national GDP among all 82 provinces. Cavite followed closely in second, while Batangas secured the third spot, underscoring CALABARZON’s critical role in driving national economic growth.

Laguna also claimed the largest share of CALABARZON’s GDP in 2023, contributing PHP 1.029 trillion (at constant 2018 prices), which accounted for 33.3 percent of the region’s total output. Cavite followed as the second-largest contributor with 25.2 percent, while Batangas ranked third, contributing 20.9 percent to the regional economy.

The region’s growth was driven by robust contributions across several sectors, particularly manufacturing, which reinforced the dominance of the industry sector, contributing 49.6 percent to CALABARZON’s GDP. These strong performances highlighted CALABARZON’s growing economic significance, as the region continues to be a key engine of national growth.

The 2023 PPA results underscored CALABARZON’s pivotal role in driving the Philippine economy forward, with its provinces continuing to lead in economic output and industrial development..|- BNN/PIA Calabarzon
