BIG moves are happening in the energy world! Meralco Power Academy (MPA) — the training arm of Meralco — just partnered with the National Transmission Corporation (TransCo) to help level up the skills of people working in the power industry.
The two organizations signed a deal (aka a Memorandum of Understanding) to work together on creating training programs that will boost knowledge, build new skills, and support career growth for professionals in the energy sector. Think: short courses, capability-building workshops, and programs to help young talent break into the industry.
TransCo President Fortunato Leynes called the partnership a major win for the power sector and thanked MPA for joining forces. He also gave props to TransCo’s HR team, led by VP Maria Theresa Laranang, for constantly working to grow and support their people.
This collab means more opportunities for learning, sharing expertise, and staying updated on key topics like power distribution and other energy trends.
Meralco EVP and COO Ronnie Aperocho — who also heads MPA — said this partnership is all about taking things to the next level.
“By combining TransCo’s nationwide mission with MPA’s training know-how, we’re not just investing in skills — we’re helping build a more reliable, resilient, and future-ready energy industry,” Aperocho said.
