CLARK AIR BASE, Philippines — In a swift show of solidarity, the United States military has joined forces with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to deliver disaster relief assistance to communities devastated by successive typhoons Kalmaegi (Tino) and Fung-Wong (Uwan) — two powerful storms that left widespread destruction and claimed numerous lives across the country.
Responding to a formal request from the Philippine government, the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command mobilized personnel, aircraft, and critical assets to support ongoing humanitarian and relief efforts. The immediate deployment reflects Washington’s continuing commitment to its treaty ally in times of crisis.
Working closely with the AFP, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the Office of Civil Defense, the Joint U.S. Military Assistance Group (JUSMAG), Task Force – Philippines, and the U.S. Department of State, American troops have been providing airlift, logistics, and coordination support to deliver vital supplies to hard-hit areas.
“I have been thoroughly impressed by the preparedness and forward-leaning measures taken by the Philippine government during this situation,” said U.S. Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Robert Brodie, commanding general of the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade. “Support to our friends, allies, and partners in their time of need is non-negotiable. Together, we are overcoming distance, weather, and logistical challenges to save lives.”
Since November 5, 2025, joint Philippine-U.S. teams have been conducting mission planning and relief operations to ensure continuous aid delivery to affected regions.
