Additional $1.5M in Life-Saving Assistance Raised to Support Typhoon-Hit Communities
CLARK AIR BASE, Pampanga — The United States has ramped up its humanitarian support to the Philippines following the devastating impact of Super Typhoon Fung-wong (Uwan), providing an additional $1.5 million (₱87 million) in emergency assistance to bolster ongoing government-led relief operations.
The latest support brings total U.S. aid for the twin disasters—Typhoons Kalmaegi (Tino) and Fung-wong—to $2.5 million (₱145 million). The assistance covers logistics, emergency shelter, clean water, sanitation supplies, and evacuation center management, ensuring rapid delivery of critical life-saving resources to affected communities.
At Clark Air Base on November 13, U.S. Marines and Philippine Air Force personnel worked side by side, loading palletized family food packs onto a U.S. Navy MV-22B Osprey. U.S. State Department officials also coordinated with Filipino responders and contractors, reflecting a unified effort to accelerate aid distribution.
Super Typhoon Fung-wong hit the country less than a week after Typhoon Kalmaegi’s landfall, compounding damage and stretching local response capacities. The overlapping disasters, coupled with the effects of the September Cebu earthquake, have left millions of Filipinos in urgent need of relief and recovery support.
