MANILA – Batangas 1st District Rep. Leandro Leviste has resigned as member of Board of Directors of SP New Energy Corporation, formerly Solar Philippines Nueva Ecija Corporation (SPNEC).

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Friday, SPNEC said it received a letter from Leviste dated Jan. 23, 2026, informing the company of his resignation effective immediately.

“SP NEW ENERGY CORPORATION received today, 23 January 2026, a letter from Mr. Leandro Antonio L. Leviste informing the Company of his resignation as a member of the Board of Directors effective immediately,” it said.

Earlier in the day, Terra Solar Philippines Inc. (MTerra Solar), an affiliate of Meralco Power Gen Corporation (MGEN) and SPNEC, announced that Leviste would be replaced on its board by MGEN President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel Rubio, effective Jan. 21.

The company said the board changes come as MTerra Solar moves closer to commissioning and the initial injection of power from its flagship solar project into the national grid.

“The board reorganization reflects MTerra Solar’s evolution as the project moves closer to commercial operations. The appointment of Mr. Rubio aligns board leadership more closely with execution and operational readiness, reinforcing governance as the company prepares for large-scale grid integration,” it added.

MTerra Solar’s 500-kilovolt substation along the Nagsaag-San Jose 500-kV transmission line recently had a grid cut-in. It said the first phase of energization will begin this quarter, to be increased to 1,500 megawatts by August this year.| – Joann Villanueva, pna
