HONG KONG — Something massive is taking over the city this week, and it’s bringing serious global energy.
Approximately 17,000 delegates from all corners of the map have officially touched down in Hong Kong for the 108th Lions International Convention. Running from July 3 to 7 at the AsiaWorld-Expo, this five-day mega-event isn’t just a standard conference—it’s throwing down a massive Tai Chi world record attempt that is bound to take over everyone’s social feeds.
Why Hong Kong?
This marks the third time the city has scored this prestigious event (with past link-ups in 1992 and 2005). Tourism Board Chairman Peter Lam Kin-ngok explained that pulling off a comeback like this proves Hong Kong still has top-tier global pull, thanks to its world-class venue facilities, status as a major aviation hub, and legendary hospitality.
But it’s not all business. The convention’s honorary chairperson, Tam Wing-kun, highlighted what makes the city truly click for a global crowd: its unique, seamless blend of Eastern and Western cultures.
Custom Itineraries & Exclusive Perks
To make sure visitors don’t just stay cooped up in conference rooms, the Hong Kong Tourism Board has teamed up with local travel partners and major hotspots to unlock the ultimate city experience. They’ve rolled out customized itineraries and exclusive privileges designed to help attendees extend their trips and explore the city’s best hidden gems.
The goal? Organizers hope that after diving headfirst into Hong Kong’s vibrant foodie scene and rich cultural nightlife, these 17,000 visitors will head home as “unofficial ambassadors,” sharing their authentic, positive stories of the city with the rest of the world.|
