LIPA Archbishop Gilbert Garcera, D.D. has recovered after he was hospitalized due to coronavirus.

Sunday marked the first time that Garcera appeared in public, albeit online, during a private Mass for the Feast of the Good Shepherd from his residence.

Fr. Jazz Siapco, who concelebrated the Mass, said that Garcera has already tested negative from Covid-19 but he still needs to rest for his continued recovery.

“The archbishop can’t receive visitors yet because he still needs to rest… But he is already covid-free. Thank God!” said Siapco, who heads the archdiocese’s social action ministry.

Garcera on March 21 announced that he was infected with Covid-19, making him the tenth Filipino prelate to contract the disease.

In the last two months, three more prelates— Archbishop Jose Palma and Bishop Emeritus Antonio Rañola of Cebu, and Archbishop Florentino Lavarias of San Fernando— had been infected with Covid-19 but they all have recovered.| – cbcpnews.net
