BATANGAS CITY — The city government is combining free wedding services, document processing and food assistance for 15 couples participating in Baysanang Bayan 2026 on October 8.
The program includes a free marriage ceremony and wedding reception, as well as the processing of legitimation documents for the couples’ children, according to the Batangas City Public Information Office.
Ahead of the event, each couple received 15 kilograms of pork, 10 kilograms of rice and two bags of cooking ingredients. The provisions are intended for a family meal after the wedding.
The food assistance, called “Dulot,” began in July 2025 on the initiative of Mayor Marvey Mariño.
Its name comes from a Batangueño tradition also known as Sabit, in which couples present gifts to their baptismal, confirmation and wedding godparents to express gratitude and respect.
Under Baysanang Bayan, the city government takes on the role of gift-giver, providing the provisions directly to the couples.
The Office of the City Civil Registrar administers the program, which brings together wedding services, related document processing and food support for participating families.| BNN Integrated News
