BATANGAS City — THOUSANDS of rural families in Batangas, received a rice donation from Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation recently.
The truck full of rice rolled out to the barangays of Ambulong, Libio and San Isidro Batangas to bring rice donations to more than 4,000 families in its recent outing last April. Earlier, they also gave rice donations to thousands of families in Palawan and Mindoro, bringing the total number to close to 8,000 families who received rice donations.
A total of 21,500 kilos of rice were distributed by the team led by Tabangao Refinery General Manager Jan Peter Groot-Wassink, together with representatives from Tabangao Refinery and PSFI-TALIM.
One of the core missions of Shell’s Project Shelter is to help indigent families in their fence line communities especially during this pandemic.
“We understand the impact that the Covid-19 pandemic has brought on our fence line communities,” said Groot-Wassink. “We value the communities we work with, so our efforts are really focused on ensuring that their needs and livelihood are still managed despite the debilitating effect of the pandemic crisis.” Part of Shell’s COVID-19 efforts is to serve as a bridge to help farmers, fisherfolks, frontliners, and other providers roll out services and relief efforts to those in need. |
