Transport groups find an ally in Singson

Must read

LUCENA City – MISS Universe benefactor and now Senate aspirant Luis “Chavit” Singson, recognized for his strong leadership in both the political and business sectors, has vowed to support jeepney operators and drivers affected by the ongoing Jeepney Modernization Program.

Singson, or Manong Chavit to many, has outlined a comprehensive plan to ease the transition to more environmentally friendly, modern jeepneys.

“I will provide all the capital needed for modernization and help the transport sector. I’ll also offer free bank accounts for the public,” said Singson, highlighting his commitment to supporting the shift to cleaner public transportation.

Singson, who is seeking a Senate seat as an independent, also proposed a co-financing solution, pledging to cover half the cost of electric jeepneys for operators transitioning to comply with the government’s modernization requirements. He pointed to his previous support for a ₱1.2 million-per-unit subsidy for jeepneys in his province as an example of his dedication to easing the financial burden on operators.|
