House Launches Nationwide Consultations on Proposed Anti-Political Dynasty Bill

Must read

CARMONA City — Faustino Bojie G. Dy III reaffirmed his commitment to open and honest public dialogue as the House of Representatives of the Philippines began nationwide consultations on proposed measures seeking to regulate political dynasties. The initiative aims to gather broad public input on a long-pending reform considered one of the most politically sensitive legislative proposals in recent years.

In a video message, Dy said the consultation process reflects the chamber’s dedication to crafting major legislation through transparent and sincere engagement with citizens. He emphasized that diverse views and experiences would be welcomed as lawmakers seek to understand public sentiment on the issue.

The first consultation was held in Carmona City and presided over by Zia Alonto Adiong, chair of the House Committee on Electoral Reforms and Suffrage. Discussions focused on several pending anti-political dynasty proposals, including House Bill No. 6771 filed by Dy and House Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander Sandro A. Marcos. The bill aims to implement the 1987 Constitution’s policy on political dynasties by defining prohibited family relationships and limiting the holding of elective posts among related individuals.

Dy noted that the issue has remained unresolved for decades despite strong public interest. He clarified that the consultations are not meant to impose decisions but to listen to voices from across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, including both supporters and critics of the proposal.

The Speaker said the House is serious about advancing a fair and meaningful measure but stressed that its strength depends on genuine public participation. He urged participants to keep discussions respectful and constructive as lawmakers gather feedback ahead of future committee deliberations.|
