LIPA CITY, Batangas — Six outstanding individuals and organizations from the province of Batangas were recognized by the Department of Agriculture Region IV-A CALABARZON during the first Regional Awarding Ceremony for Gawad Saka Awardees, Top Performing Farmers’ Cooperatives and Associations (FCAs), and Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) for 2025, held on March 2 in Lipa City.
The ceremony aimed to honor individuals and organizations that demonstrated excellence in farming practices, contributed to strengthening food security, and supported the continued development of the agriculture sector in their respective communities.
Among the awardees was the Talahib Pandayan Rural Improvement Club, which received recognition as Outstanding Barangay Rural Improvement Club. The Samahan ng Masaganang Magsasaka ng Talahiban 1.0 and Talahiban 2.0 was also honored for its achievements under the Rice Program.
Meanwhile, the Batangas Egg Producers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (BEPMPC) was recognized for its contribution to the Livestock – Poultry Program, while the Batangas Mango High Value Growers Agriculture Cooperative received an award under the High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP) – Mango.
The Libato Farmers Husbandry and Corn Farming Association was also cited for its performance under the Corn Program.
In addition to the organizations, Ms. Luz Labit was recognized as Outstanding Agricultural Extension Worker (AEW) under the HVCDP, highlighting her significant role in providing technical support and guidance to farmers in the community.
In her message, OIC-Regional Executive Director Engr. Redelliza Guezo emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships with various sectors to ensure the successful implementation of the department’s programs for farmers and to further advance agricultural development in Batangas.
Meanwhile, Mr. Marcelo Bagnes, representative of the Samahan ng Masaganang Magsasaka ng Talahiban 1.0 and 2.0, expressed gratitude for the continued recognition of their efforts and the programs being implemented to support farmers.
According to the regional office, the Regional Awarding Ceremony will continue in other provinces in the coming weeks to recognize more outstanding individuals and organizations contributing to the agriculture sector.|
