DASMARIÑAS CITY, Cavite — A household helper in Dasmariñas City, Cavite, was arrested on Sunday, June 7, after her employer caught her stealing a gold bracelet valued at P500,000.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:00 p.m. inside a residence in Barangay Salawag. According to a report submitted to the Cavite Police Provincial Office, the complainant, identified as alias “Thea,” left the expensive jewelry on top of a table to briefly use the restroom. Upon returning, she reportedly witnessed her housemaid, identified as alias “Novy,” taking possession of the item and hurriedly leaving the house.
Acting swiftly, the victim pursued and confronted the suspect, resulting in the immediate recovery of the stolen bracelet.
Responding officers from the Dasmariñas Component City Police Station, operating under the supervision of Police Lieutenant Colonel Mac Arthur S. Mercader, subsequently assisted in the investigation.
A lawful inspection of the suspect’s belongings led to the discovery of assorted pawnshop receipts, which police verified to correspond with several other pieces of jewelry previously reported missing by the employer.
The suspect is currently detained at the Dasmariñas Component City Police Station, while appropriate charges for qualified theft are being prepared for filing before the Prosecutor’s Office.
Cavite Police Provincial Director PCol Ariel R. Red commended the local police and the complainant for the swift resolution of the crime.
“Trust is the foundation of every household, and any betrayal of that trust for personal gain will be dealt with accordingly under the full force of the law. The swift recovery of the stolen property and the arrest of the suspect demonstrate our unwavering commitment to protecting the rights and hard-earned possessions of our citizens.
