MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang has declared special non-working days in 11 localities across the country to allow residents full participation in their respective local fiestas, founding anniversaries, festivals, and historical commemorations.
Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, acting by authority of the President, signed Proclamation Nos. 1352 to 1357 on July 16, covering Pililla, Rizal; Sudipen, La Union; Asuncion and Kapalong in Davao del Norte; Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat; and Calbayog City, Samar. Recto subsequently signed Proclamation Nos. 1358 to 1362 on July 21, declaring local holidays in San Vicente, Palawan; Kawit, Cavite; San Pascual, Batangas; Pilar, Sorsogon; and Gumaca, Quezon.
The official documents state that it is “fitting and proper” to give residents full opportunity to participate in and enjoy their respective celebrations.
For the month of July, Proclamation No. 1352 declares July 22 a special non-working day in Pililla, Rizal for its town fiesta and founding anniversary. Meanwhile, Proclamation No. 1353 proclaims July 30 as a special non-working day in Sudipen, La Union in celebration of its founding anniversary, while Proclamation No. 1358 designates July 31 as a special non-working day in San Vicente, Palawan for the Malagnang Festival.
A series of local holidays will also take effect in early August. Under Proclamation No. 1354, August 1 is declared a special non-working day in Asuncion, Davao del Norte for the joint celebration of Araw ng Asuncion and the 27th Sinawug Festival.
Proclamation No. 1355 designates the same day as a special non-working day in Kapalong, Davao del Norte for its 78th founding anniversary, while Proclamation No. 1359 declares August 1 a special non-working day in Kawit, Cavite to celebrate Kawit Day.
In the succeeding days of August, Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat will mark its 75th founding anniversary on August 3 pursuant to Proclamation No. 1356. Founding anniversaries will likewise be observed on August 4 in San Pascual, Batangas under Proclamation No. 1360, and on August 6 in Pilar, Sorsogon through Proclamation No. 1361.
Malacañang also designated special non-working days to honor prominent Filipino statesmen. Proclamation No. 1357 designates Aug. 5, 2026, a special non-working day in Calbayog City, Samar, to honor the birth anniversary of Jose Avelino, a Calbayog native born in 1890 who served as the country’s first Senate president after World War II.
In addition, Proclamation No. 1362 designates August 10 a special non-working day in Gumaca, Quezon to commemorate the birth anniversary of Lorenzo M. Tañada Sr., a former senator and statesman widely recognized for his contributions to nationalism, human rights, and public service.|
